Ahoy-hoy! I am Kiah (she/her/hers) and I was born and raised in Waseca, a small town surrounded by open fields and farms in south-central Minnesota. However, I have lived in Minneapolis, MN, Freiburg, Germany, and most recently Syracuse, NY. I was drawn to pursue my Ph.D. in Communication Studies at Colorado State University because of the esteemed faculty, the interdisciplinarity of the department, and the versatility the program affords. While being strongly rooted in intersectional feminism, I tend to have one foot in rhetorical studies and one foot in media studies. My research centers on satire and marginalized humor, television, and the rhetoric of bodies. Outside of my academic life, I hike, practice yoga, watch TV, cook, stress-bake, and listen to podcasts. So, if you see me around, tell me what TV show you're binging, what podcasts you're listening to (especially true crime), and what music you're enjoying!!
