All undergraduate students in Communication Studies are invited to join our spring virtual alumni panel!

On Wednesday, April 20 from 10-11 a.m., Pat Stoik (’80, Chief Risk Officer at Over-Haul Group) and Jim Janicek (’84, President & CEO of Janicek Media Inc.) will speak on Zoom ( about their careers and professional experience since graduating from CSU. Pat and Jim will also be available to answer student questions.

About the panelists

Pat Stoik graduated from CSU in 1980 with a B.A. in Speech Communication and a Broadcasting minor. Pat has 37 years of insurance underwriting/broker experience in transportation, construction, marine, property, energy, entertainment, and affinity risks. As a licensed insurance agent in all fifty states, his designations include Associate in Risk Management (ARM), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), and Transportation Risk Specialist (TRS). Over the course of his career, Pat has moved from the marine and entertainment asset industries into overseeing all insurance activities and risk management efforts at Over-Haul Group, where his primary focus now is pairing technology with insurance partners and insurance solutions.

Jim Janicek graduated from CSU in 1984 with a B.A. in Speech Communication and a Technical Journalism minor. Jim is the creative and collaborative force behind five nine-figure brands with five- to 18-year runs, with highlights such as the creator of the 1990s Hit Comedy Brand ABC TGIF, producing with The Muppets, the launch of Starz and Hallmark Channels, and most recently Executive Producing three family movies: Adeline, The Engagement Plot, and The Happy Camper, all due to premiere in 2022. Jim started his career as a PA with ABC Sports right out of CSU, eventually making his way to the Entertainment Division in Hollywood where he became an Executive Producer. He founded and leads Janicek Media (JMC), an entrepreneurial firm that develops branded entertainment programming, innovative 360 media messaging campaigns, and new channels of distribution and discovery from concept to delivery.
