Biography
Hi, I'm Casey, a Masters and Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Communications Department here at CSU. I'm interested in the intersections of media, masculinity, and politics and to understand how social media forms our political and gender identities. My past work has looked at the Manosphere to understand the rhetoric within this community and how it shapes boys understanding of masculinity in adolescence. My most recent project focused on gore-watching—the viewing of videos depicting real life violence and death—where boys engage in sharing these videos to perform hypermasculinity as a homosocial bonding ritual through gendered trauma.
Outside of my research, I'm an avid skier, hiker, and political organizer.
