Join us for the seventh annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival closing film screening, panel discussion, and reception. ACT brings the best and most recent human rights cinema to northern Colorado. Through the shared experience of film and conversation, ACT cultivates empathy and new perspectives.
Film + Panel Discussion
Join us on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at 7 p.m. for a screening of the documentary film Firestarter: The Story of Bangarra (Nel Minchin & Wayne Blair, 2020, Australia, 95 minutes) at The Lyric (1209 N. College Ave). Firestarter follows three charismatic Aboriginal brothers who lead a nascent dance group into a First Nations artistic powerhouse, while carrying the mental and emotional toll that comes with being culture bearers.
Following the film, stick around for a panel discussion on mental health, dance therapy, and intergenerational trauma in the theater.
Closing Reception
After the panel discussion will be a 9 p.m. celebratory reception with live music to close out the in-person programming of the seventh annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival.
