Join us for the seventh annual ACT Human Rights Film Festival opening night! ACT brings the best and most recent human rights cinema to northern Colorado. Through the shared experience of film and conversation, ACT cultivates empathy and new perspectives.

Reception

Join us on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. for an opening reception in the Lory Student Center Theatre lobby.

Film + Panel Discussion

After the reception will be a 7 p.m. screening of the documentary film The Caviar Connection: How to Buy Democracy (Benoît Bringer, 2021, France, 104 minutes) in the LSC Theatre. Ruled by a handful of dynastic governing families and fueled by the astonishing wealth of Caspian oil, Azerbaijan and its neighbors wield “caviar diplomacy,” a specific brand of lobbying used to successfully legitimize corruption and autocracy.

Immediately following the film screening will be a panel discussion in the theatre on post-Soviet Bloc nations’ autocracy, diplomacy, and corruption.
