All undergraduate students in Communication Studies are invited to join our spring alumni panel!

On Thursday, March 23 from 1-2:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center, Room 304-06, Xochitl Ramirez Amaro (’20, Campus Advisor at the Denver Scholarship Foundation ), Andrea Hernandez (’21, Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist at Aurora Community Connection), Kailey Petro (’19, Public Health Account Executive at Fors Marsh), and Luke White (’18, Partner Manager at Walmart Connect) will speak about their careers and professional experience since graduating from CSU. They will also be available to answer student questions.

About the panelists

Professional headshot of Xochitl Ramirez Amaro Xochitl Ramirez Amaro, ’20, currently works with the Denver Scholarship Foundation as a Campus Advisor at CU Denver where she supports college students who are scholarship recipients. Xochitl is a proud first-generation college grad. Since leaving CSU, she has also participated in the Piton Fellowship, and continued to work in her community with Ednium, the alumni collective. Xochitl loves Colorado and her Denver community. She believes that education is power, and is excited to continue learning and growing in her career.

Professional headshot of Andrea HernandezAndrea Hernandez, ’21, graduated from CSU with a double major in Communication Studies and Spanish Language, Literature, and Culture. She began her post-graduate career in communications as a Community Outreach and Engagement Specialist at a nonprofit in north Aurora, where she has been working for about a year and a half! Working with and empowering the Latino(e) community is what fulfills Andrea’s spirit; she believes that the power of effective communication helps build cultural capital, allows us to be better at conflict, and pushes us to be critical thinkers. 

Professional headshot of Kailey PetroKailey Petro, MPH, ’19, is a public health professional and health communications strategist. She has worked with a variety of clients in both the private and public sectors such as the National Institute of Health, the US Department of Health & Human Services, the Department of Homeland Security, and several Colorado county public health offices to develop, implement, and evaluate meaningful communications strategies. She is passionate about working with clients to create equitable and engaging stories that connect with audiences and drive positive community impact by developing thoughtful and dynamic marketing strategies and materials.

Professional headshot of Luke WhiteLuke White, ’18, is a Partner Manager at Walmart Connect (Walmart’s media and advertising organization) where he plans, presents, and sells through digital media campaigns to large enterprise customers. Luke has spent the last five years in digital advertising sales, working at Amazon Advertising in Chicago prior to transitioning to Walmart Connect. His professional areas of focus include B2B sales, B2C marketing, digital advertising, and retail media.
