On Thursday, April 24, join us for two insightful alumni panels with esteemed communication studies graduates who will speak about their careers and professional experience since graduating from CSU. Sessions include:

  • 9:30 – 11:00 a.m., LSC Room 372-374
  • 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., LSC Room 372-374

All communication studies students and those interested in the major are welcome to attend! This is your chance to learn from those who have been where you are—hear their stories, ask questions, and walk away better prepared to launch a fulfilling career doing what you love.

Headshot of Fred ZerblisFred Zerblis (‘16) 

After winning the 2011 Georgia Class 5A State Championship and graduating from Grayson High School, Zerblis continued his football career and education at Colorado State University. He redshirted his freshman year, then started at right guard from 2014 to 2016. His senior season was a highlight, with their offensive line allowing just 1.0 sacks per game, earning him First-Team All-Mountain West honors and Second-Team All-American recognition. Zerblis also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a second major in History. After graduation, he became an Offensive Graduate Assistant while pursuing a Master’s in Tourism Management. Working under Coach Bobo expanded his knowledge and led him to meet his wife.

Currently, Zerblis lives in Johnstown, Colorado, and works as a Customer Support Representative at 4Rivers Equipment, a local John Deere dealer. Since joining the company in 2020, he’s taken on a dynamic role that blends sales, customer relations, and support for their parts and service departments. His focus is building and maintaining strong customer relationships, ensuring they get the support they need, from coordinating service to troubleshooting issues.

As EVP and Co-Head of Sports, Schwartzkopf oversees the NBA and NHL Teams/Arenas business across North America for Ticketmaster.
Schwartzkopf and his team focus on delivering the highest level of client care and innovation to their partners while helping clients leverage industry leading B2B/B2C technology and services that drive more revenue and deliver more fans. Joining Live Nation Entertainment in May of 2013, Kurt brings almost 35 years of industry knowledge. Prior to his role at Ticketmaster, Schwartzkopf spent 5 years as Chief Marketing Officer for the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Colorado Mammoth and Pepsi Center (now Ball Arena) where he oversaw all team ticket sales & service, premium sales & service, marketing, creative, digital/interactive media, box office operations, game entertainment, fan development and community relations for the clubs and arena. Schwartzkopf also spent seven years with the Los Angeles Kings and STAPLES Center and was part of the executive team that transitioned from the Great Western Forum to STAPLES Center in 1999 and helped launch a new era of Kings hockey and live events in downtown Los Angeles. He also has over nine years of collective experience with FELD Entertainment, Inc. both as a promoter and then Regional Vice President. In his role as an RVP Kurt supervised the Western U.S. and Western Canada for all FELD tours. His first introduction to the business loves was in 1986 thru 1992 as a “Runner” for FEY CONCERTS in Denver, CO where he worked FEY CONCERTS promoted shows at Red Rocks, Fiddlers Green, McNichols Arena, Mile High Stadium and Paramount Theater. Schwartzkopf graduated from Colorado State University in Spring of 92’.

Miller (she/her) graduated from CSU in May of 2024 with a Bachelor’s in Communication Studies and a minor in Film Studies. She has lived in the Loveland/Fort Collins area her whole life. Post graduation she is working at a marketing company, Harmony Leads, as an Executive Assistant. She gets an inside view of marketing and the business world while still getting to follow her passion for event planning. Recently she had the opportunity to plan the company’s first big conference and bring together employees from all over the US to connect in person. When not working, she loves to spend time with her dog and her mom, to travel (either internationally or via road trips with friends), attend concerts, film festivals, and comic cons.

Headshot of Hayley MarcusHayley Marcus (‘20)

Hayley Marcus graduated from CSU in Winter 2020 with an undergraduate degree in Communication Studies and Real Estate & Business Administration minors. After graduation, she started working at Charles Schwab with little to no Finance background. Over the past four and a half years, Marcus has been immersed into the world of finance and learned as much as possible from those around her. She has been able to try various different roles in the financial industry primarily revolving around Derivatives trading and training new hires. Marcus has recognized a passion in herself for helping others and giving them the tools to take ownership of their financial situations. She is extremely passionate about financial literacy to youth programs and has found a role that has sparked this in a positive way. Hayley currently manages a team of college interns year-round and introduces them to what Schwab has to offer if they choose to pursue a career there after graduating. Outside of work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, being with her dog and eating good food outside.

Izzy is a proud 2024 graduate of Colorado State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies with a focus on interpersonal relationships, along with a minor in Political Communication. She is passionate about building meaningful connections and using communication as a tool to create a positive impact within her community. With experience in public relations, event coordination, and nonprofit development, Izzy has honed her skills in strategic communication, outreach, donor management, and fundraising. She currently serves as the Community Engagement Manager at KRFC 88.9 FM, a local nonprofit radio station, where she works to strengthen relationships, grow support, and share stories that inspire.

Carmyn Ginnetti (B.A. Communication Studies & Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts, ’21) is the Recruitment and Engagement Coordinator for the Warner College of Natural Resources at Colorado State University. After graduating from CSU, she began her career in Fort Collins at Otter Products, where she discovered a passion for recruitment and building meaningful connections. That passion led her back to CSU, where she now supports prospective students and helps them find their place in higher education. Her Communication Studies background continues to shape the way she tells stories, builds relationships, and creates inclusive spaces for others.
