Top Student Paper Awards

The Department of Communication is proud to celebrate the achievements of our graduate students at this year’s Western States Communication Association (WSCA) conference. Their innovative research contributions were recognized among submissions from across the western United States, demonstrating excellence in scholarship in our graduate program.

Headshot of Lauren BuiskerLauren Buisker has earned a Top Student Paper award for “‘She is a Good American Citizen’: Transforming Legible Victimhood and Rhetorics of Radical Belief in the Justice Movement for Recy Taylor.” Lauren’s work sheds crucial light on historical justice movements and gives voice to stories that need to be told.

 

 

 

Headshot of Felicity DonkerFelicity Donkor has earned a Top Student Paper award for “Representing the Political Body: Ghanaian Women Politicians and the Media.” Felicity’s research examines the complex intersection of gender, media representation, and political power in Ghana, advancing our understanding of global political communication.
